Avon & Tributaries Angling Association

Open Day – May 20th 2012

Roy Harper, an ex international England fly fisher, is giving a demonstration on fishing the

Wellow Brook on Sunday morning 20th May 2012. Meeting at the parking area underneath

the red brick railway arches at the entrance to the Mye at Midford (Near Bath), opposite the

"Hope and Anchor, starting at 10.00 a.m. finishing at 12.30.

New members, and non-members interested in joining are welcome. The latter are invited to

purchase a day ticket at £20 if they wish to continue fishing themselves in the afternoon,

accompanied by a member. This fee will be deducted from their subscription if the angler

joins the association this year. A rod licence, issued by the Environment Agency will be

required.

The session will be limited to a maximum of 15, on a first come basis, and will start with a

talk on the fly life and food available to the trout in the wellow, followed by the tackle

required, casting, and river craft.

There will then be a practical demonstration on fishing different pools and runs, when the

group will split into smaller groups of five in a rota to avoid spooking the fish.
