Chairman of the Peasedown St John Parish Council, Cllr Neil Hopkins visited the Peasedown Community Farm during the open weekend held over the Bank Holiday. Cllrs Sam Hopkins and Charlie Harrison also enjoyed a visit on what turned out to be a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon. The councillors chatted to members of the Peasedown Youth Centre who are volunteers at the farm and learned about how the farm operates. Bridie Marshall (B&NES Youth Leader) outlined some of the future plans for the Community Farm which includes vegetable plots planted by the school children at Peasedown St John Primary School, some of which have already been started.Neil commented: “I am so pleased we visited the farm. It’s been on my family list of ‘things to do in Peasedown’ since it opened and volume of work has meant the outing has stayed on our list. Sam, Charlie and I were very impressed with the enthusiasm of the young people (and the not so young!) and we all look forward to watching this important local resource develop over the years - we will certainly be visiting again and have already said we are happy to be on the volunteer rota”.
